Close To The Coast RadioPEI talent like a mighty river runs deep

Welcome to Close To The Coast Radio, home to our very first podcast series spotlighting some of the very best songwriters currently living, performing and writing on Prince Edward Island.

A total of fifteen songwriters and their various bands and groups will be heard in the eight episodes that will be made available through this web site and various podcast directories across the web such as iTunes and Podcast Alley.

The basic format is a mix of album tracks and specially recorded in the studio tracks that were cut just for this series. That means you may hear a track by a rock group or country group of which one or more of the songwriters is a member. That same songwriter could be heard on another episode with just an acoustic guitar, possibly with additional but minimal support such as bass or an extra acoustic guitar or a back up vocal but mostly solo, performing an up close and personal track “live” from the floor. This allows us to present different sides of the songwriter to our listeners.

You will also hear about the songs and songwriting from the songwriters in their own words woven seamlessly into each episode. Take in all eight episodes of this series and you will have a very good snapshot of the skills and talents of 15 songwriters from Prince Edward Island in various incarnations. We think we have some outstanding songwriters and we want to let the world know about them. Following the eight episodes, an additional 3 episodes will be made available featuring all of the in studio acoustic tracks form our 15 songwriters.

As we develop the concept of Close To The Coast Radio further, we hope to expose you to additional songwriters from our island. We also hope to present them in some different formats such as the songwriter circle. In the meantime, enjoy each episode of the songwriters of Prince Edward Island as it becomes available for download. Check back for the song and artist details as listed below. We might even throw in an interesting story or two about a song or a songwriter. ENJOY!

Dan Currie currently performs with his band What Happened Tomorrow and can be heard together on the album "Crown Of Stars".
